kikuhu (pronounced ki-ku-wu) is an imaginary hotel. It accommodates 7 guest rooms and a lounge full of books and good coffee. Arranged flowers let you feel the change of seasons. It's a place where you can unwind.

The name kikuhu is inspired by a famous Zen proverb:By scooping water we can hold the moon in our hands,by picking a flower we can wear its scent.

In Japanese, the beginning of this quote reads Mizu wo kiku sureba, which means “by scooping water". The Chinese character for “to scoop", kiku, can also be read su-ku-wu in Japanese. The name Kikuhu is a combination of both readings and was born from the wish to be holding someone's feelings dearly, like holding precious water in your hands.

Trees swaying in the wind, birds chirping, the sound of streaming water, the moonlight, wavering shadows and the scent of flowers... Kikuhu is a small hotel surrounded by nature, a place that touches all of your senses.

Our designs revolve around the idea that this hotel could become reality someday somewhere.
